Mahango Core Area – Bwabwata National Park (West)

Spend the day exploring the Mahango Core Area, one of Namibia’s most productive birding destinations. This area combines floodplain, riverine, and acacia woodland habitats within a small but species-rich park.

Depart early and travel south toward Tsumkwe, a small settlement in the Nyae Nyae Conservancy, home to the Ju/’Hoansi San people. This area lies in transition woodland and Kalahari sandveld — a unique birding habitat.

Khaudum National Park – Head north into the remote Khaudum National Park, one of Namibia’s least-visited and wildest protected areas. The park’s open acacia woodlands, fossil riverbeds, and waterholes are magnets for both wildlife and birdlife.

Spend two days exploring the park’s vast network of sandy tracks and pans with a guide. This is true wilderness birding — ideal for those who value solitude and exploration.

Where to stay: Sikereti Campsite
